About Awana

Awana is the leading ministry to help local churches reach children, youth, and their families with the gospel.  Our prayer is

That all children and youth throughout the world will come to know, love, and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.

This website is for the Eastern Virginia Region.  The international website is at www.awana.org.

Commander College - CC101

CC101 helps commanders develop acomprehensive Awana ministry that equips your church, leaders, and parents to raise kids that know, love, and serve the Lord Jesus Christ.  You will gain a clear understanding of your responsibility as an advocate, shepherd, administrator, communicator, and leader for your program.  These are critical roles in learning how to integrate Awana into your church's ministries, manage and motivate your volunteers, avoid common adminstrative traps, communicate effectively in all kinds of situations, and grow a healthy, life-changing program.

CC101 is 2 and one-half days of transformational training providing practical tools, tips, and new ideas.  Move beyond survival mode into excellence.  Gain ministry solutions from interaction with other commanders.  Clearly understand the requirements of your five roles as a commander.

Commander College 101 will be in Richmond, Virginia from 29 April to 1 May, 2010.  Attendees will be from Virginia, Delaware, and Maryland.  Early registration, received by 15 March 2010, is $249.  Registration received after 15 March, but before 29 March 2010, is $299.  After 29 March 2010 - there is no registration after 29 March 2010.

Lodging will be at the Holiday Inn Express in Ashland (107 South Carter Road, 804-752-7889, www.hiexpress.com/ashlandva, code: ---ACC).  Lodging is separate from, and not included in, the registration fee.  Ask for the Awana group rate of $89 single, $99 double room per night.  Make your reservation befor 29 April - NASCAR is racing same weekend, so rooms will go fast.

Verse to Ponder

“But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,” (1 Peter 3:15)  listen to chapter  (Read by Max McLean. Provided by The Listener's Audio Bible.)

Adopt-a-Club

Thousands of churches overseas see Awana as an extremely effective means for leading kids and families to Jesus Christ. But there are many more that can't afford to start and run clubs.

Individuals, churches, clubs and families can meet this critical need through Adopt-a-Club. For just $20 a month, or $240 a year, you can provide 10 or more children with materials that enable them to participate in Awana.

Make a difference, today!
